Meet Lizzy

I’m Lizzy Laymond, a mum of 2, and I have been a teacher for over 15 years. I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2004 and began my teaching career in North London. My teaching journey has been incredibly positive and rewarding. I have had the opportunity to work in many different schools, from local to inner city, from faith to secular and from the big to the small. I have had experience working with all year groups throughout the foundation stage, Key Stage one and Key Stage two.

I am a passionate reader and I love any opportunity to read and talk about books. When I was younger, I was quite a reluctant reader, seeing it more as a chore than a pleasure. This changed when I became a teenager and I was able to read and discuss books with my friends and family. Bringing reading into a social circle made it more fun and enjoyable.

We all know how important it is for children to enjoy reading, and I can see this both as a parent and as a teacher. My mission is for children to be passionate about reading and discussing the books they love. It was this goal that drove me to create Book Club Buddies so that reading becomes a choice and not a chore.
